IMS/SIMS Field Specialist
Location: York, PA branch
 
         
 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
 • Conduct on site visits to customer storerooms or SIMS trailers to evaluate inventory levels
   and create replenishment orders based on min/reorder levels established by the customer
   using a scanning system
 • Assure the accuracy of customer’s inventory system by maintaining and updating all product
   information and product labels on shelving and bins
 • Organize and set up product based on customer preferences
 • Stock material on customer shelves as required
 • Facilitate customer requests and problem resolution in a timely manner
 • Effectively communicate with SIMS team or other SYD resources on customer needs or
   requests
 • Continue to develop relationships with the identified key personnel; project managers, field
   supervisors, electricians, storeroom personnel, purchasing agents
 • Enter sales calls with pertinent customer information or feedback
 • Identify opportunities to promote additional SYD services
 • Work jointly with account salesperson on products that are not in the inventory management
   program but have potential for inclusion
 • Develop additional add-on sales to increase overall sales and gross profit
 • Maintain high level of customer confidence through excellent customer service and support
 • Gain an understanding of project coordination, job conditions, scheduling of material and
   project management for our SIMS jobs
 • Follow up on all open orders, bids, and credits with customer until completed
 • Continual education on electrical products, applications, and solutions is required
 • Maintain safety standards established by SYD and the customer while on a job site or in a
   storeroom

Knowledge / Experience / Education:
 • Possess good time management skills
 • Highly motivated and positive attitude
 • Good verbal and written communication skills
 • Basic computer skills - familiarity with Microsoft Excel, Word, Internet Explorer.
 • Current Pennsylvania driver’s license with clean driving record required
 • High School Diploma or equivalent required
 • Construction knowledge or distribution knowledge helpful
 • Sales experience helpful

Material Handler/Back Up Driver
Location: Pittsburgh, PA branch
 
         
 

Primary Objective of Position:
Performs a variety of tasks in support of warehousing functions including; delivering, storing, processing and loading of warehouse inventory.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
 • Pull and pack orders
 • Help Will Call customers
 • Unload, receive and put away stock when needed
 • Prepare orders to ship via 3rd party
 • Wire cutter process
 • Ensure inventory accuracy
 • Organize placement of  material on trucks for effective and timely delivery
 • Maintain truck inspection per DOT regulations and completes required DOT paperwork
 • Deliver material to customers and pick-up returns
 • Communicate with sales department regarding order problems
 • Build and maintain customer service relationships
 • Assist in various tasks that promote the effective functioning of the warehouse
 • Carry a photo ID and cell phone at all times
 • Immediately report any accidents/incidents to your immediate supervisor and the Manager of
   General Services

Qualifications:
 • Basic mathematics skills
 • Interpersonal skills using tact, patience and courtesy
 • Basic computer skills
 • Ability to read and understand written and oral directions
 • Observe legal and defensive driving practices
 • Meet schedules and timeframes
 • Perform manual work of lifting material and supplies of 50 to 75 lbs.

Education/Training/Experience:
 • High school diploma or GED equivalent
 • Two years of warehouse experience
 • Valid Pennsylvania driver’s license

Lighting Specialist
Location: Harrisburg, PA branch
 
         
 

General Description:
This position has primary responsibility for large Plan/Spec quotations, and secondary responsibilities for lighting design, design build, energy related, and national account lighting project calculations and quotations.

Design Build Project:
 • Receive project assignments from Construction Coordinator, O/S and or Direct from
   customer.
 • Review project design requirements
 • Determine material / vendors needed to meet design requirements
 • Verify or establish foot candle level that meets or exceeds IES standards
 • Utilize AGI / CAD software to complete lighting design
 • Run calculation to confirm that design meets or exceeds PA State Energy Code
   requirements
 • Obtain project pricing from selected vendor
 • Contact SYD Outside Salesperson and discuss project profit margin
 • Transmit final Design Documents to applicable contractors as well as SYD O/S personnel
   (Eclipse and Excel)

Energy Based:
 • Receive project assignments from Construction Coordinator, O/S and or Direct from
   customer.
 • Review ESS Qualification form
 • Review audit forms and project requirements
 • Determine material / vendors needed to meet design requirements
 • Research and compile applicable rebates and or grants available to assist in improving ROI
 • Fill out Energy Report documents and calculate savings and ROI
 • If design or photometric layouts required refer to Design Build process
 • Obtain project pricing from selected vendor
 • Contact SYD Outside Salesperson and determine project profit margin
 • Prepare and present final ESS documents to client as well as SYD O/S personnel (Eclipse
   and Excel)

Post Bid Responsibilities:
 • Collect and communicate any feedback from Customers and Salespeople to Vendors, and
   adjust Bid accordingly
 • Bid follow up discussions in coordination with outside sales
 • Solicit buy pricing from appropriate vendors to use in assisting with project negotiations to
   help secure order
 • Once order is awarded to SYD solicit and compile material price breakdowns
 • Compile and deliver Design Specification documents based on project specific requirements
 • Convert existing Eclipse bid to Sales order and produce and send Purchase orders to
   vendors
 • Compile Project Management turnover documentation, and turn over to Construction
   Coordinator for project management

Other Duties:
 • Respond to incoming customer phone, fax, and email requests for
 • Quotation of Material
 • Technical support of products
 • Fixture and Lamp recommendations
 • Purchase material in Eclipse as required
 • Track and expedite material to meet customer timelines as needed
 • Maintain Eclipse sales data by continually cancelling Bids and providing price feedback
 • Participate in joint planning and sales calls with other SYD team members as well as
   manufacturer’s representatives

Knowledge / Experience / Education:
 • High School Diploma or equivalent required
 • Minimal of five years of experience in Electrical/Construction Industry
 • Understanding of basic electrical principals and systems
 • Electrical/Lighting industry experience preferred
 • Knowledge of lighting and electrical distribution equipment products
 • Experience with related computer software (Microsoft Products, Adobe Professional, CAD or
   CAD based Design software) that affect or touch our daily productivity
 • Eclipse experience Preferred

General Description:
This position has primary responsibility for managing customer requests and selling products and services with the goal of sales growth and enhanced profitability. Performs a variety of tasks in support of warehousing functions including; delivering, storing, processing and loading of warehouse inventory.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
 • Enter/process sales orders, bids, credits and transfers while understanding time sensitivity
 • Offer promotional item(s) and services as applicable
 • Manage bid opportunities via the Bid Follow-up process
 • Manage and balance your workload daily for completion of all requests
 • Obtain special pricing from vendors as needed for customer's bill of materials
 • Use Vendor web sites for product searches, price and availability, and cut sheets
 • Utilize and manage information for prioritizing, tracking and follow-up on customer orders
 • Answer phone calls to meet Company standards
 • Manage daily schedule, e-mail and voice-mail to reflect current activities
 • Support all sales teams activities
 • Actively pursue self-improvement through training
 • Responsible for maintaining inventory accuracy
